Hydrant on 2nd

I've had this idea for a while to do a series of watercolors with subjects you would not traditionally see in watercolor paintings. I liked the shape of this fire hydrant and the way the shadows laid across it. I guess this is a kind of landscape painting... which makes it kind of traditional after all...

...nothing more fun than a visual pun.

This actually an idea I had a while back but never got past the sketch stage. It is the first fruit of my commitment to paint for an hour every day. This took 2 days, so about 2 hours. These paintings are meant to be exercises and experiments so I may or may not post them all. But if I like them or they make me laugh a little I'm sure they'll find there way to the page.
