Lotus

(watercolor and colored pencil on paper) original size 14"x20"

Running your own business is hard. I've been doing a lot of web-design lately. It's not my favorite but it helps pay the bills. I've been trying to incorporate some of my paintings into the designs so I don't forget how to paint while I'm coding, or writing contracts, or learning about tax laws, or working out pricing... or all that administrative stuff...

This is a lotus flower design for a yoga website I built. I'm not sure if they will use this painting in the end, because the client fell in love with the "sketchy" quality of my original comp. I don't mind if they decide to go with the original image. It felt really good to sit down and do a nice clean painting. I'm glad I took the time to paint something I could be satisfied with, even if they don't decide to use it. Painting is good for me.

Check out the site if you are interested in my design:
adarayoga.com If you see a flower similar to this one on the left then they decided to use the painting... other wise it will still be the other "sketchy" version. Or they haven't updated yet.
