Mia's Nursery Mural (Making the Garden Grow)

(click to view image with flickr)

(acrylic on wall) original size 5-1/2'x4'

This is my Baby Shower present for my brother Paul and his wife Amy. It is my first mural attempt. They asked for a scene from the movie "My Neighbor Totoro" and we decided on the Garden Growing scene. I designed and laid out the drawing and enlisted the help of my lovely girlfriend Jen, my brother and sister-in-law Steve and Kat, and my brother Paul to help paint in the big spaces. Then I went back in and filled in the details. I'm so glad my new Niece Mia will know that we all helped to create this painting. This one will be above her crib.

*UPDATE! Mia Berry Raupach was born at 2:07am on January 16th! 7pounds 4.2 ounces! I'm an Uncle!*

My brother-in-law Steve transferred this drawing from a "My Neighbor Totoro" Book. Paul (the new dad) filled in the big areas (including some excellent gradient work!), and I completed the detail work. This painting sits across from the crib in-between the bookshelf and the rocking chair.

Little Red Riding Hood (Final Painting

(watercolor & ink on paper) original size 15-1/4"x8-3/4"

Well I wanted to put the actual text from my page in the book but the final edit of the book isn't available yet and I lost my copy of the text... I'll update it when I get another copy. For those of you who didn't see the value study. This is the page in Little Red Riding hood when the Woodsman hears the wolf snoring in Grandma's house and decides to investigate.
Thanks Dad for modeling!
