Am I obsessed?... Yes, yes I am... A good caricature takes a lot of work... These images were compiled in semi-sequential order from a bunch of pages in my sketchbook.

Bombs for Peace

(click to view image with flickr)

(markers on paper) original size 8-1/2"x11"

Ok so we were listening to a Hits-of-the-60s CD at work today and it got me thinking about the youth movement of the time. This image and slogan came to me and I thought the idea was kind of funny... I mean how long has our government been trying to sell the idea of dropping bombs on people for the sake of peace. Say it out loud..."Bombing for Peace" doesn't it sound ludicrous? Anyway I thought it could make a good icon for a counter movement... I'm talking about finding those who want use exploit hate and fear while claiming to protect American values and attack them with kindness... I'm talking really organized guerilla tactics here... like covert mass flower deliveries to Neo Nazis... something like that... The idea being to disarm the hate rhetoric that seems to dominate today’s political speech. How ridiculous would you sound if you tried to condemn your enemies for bringing you baked goods...? Anyway it's kind of a silly idea but I had fun daydreaming about it. Besides I can't imagine someone hasn't used this name already... I quick search on the interweb turned up this song. Bombing for Peace

Bush Sketch

(click to view image with flickr)

(markers on paper) original size 8-1/2"x11"

I've been thinking about doing some political cartoons again. I'm revising my Bush. I think he's getting close... Jen thinks his eyes should be more prominent... I'm going to play around with them a little more and see what happens. I'd love some feedback from y'all. I want him to be really recognizable.
